California Scholarship Federation
The California Scholarship Federation (CSF) is an academic honors program for high school students in the state of California, United States. It was founded in 1921 and is one of the oldest and most prestigious academic organizations for high school students in the country.
The CSF program recognizes and rewards academic achievement by students who have demonstrated exceptional scholarship. To be eligible for CSF membership, students must meet specific academic requirements and apply for membership during designated application periods.
The CSF membership requirements are based on a point system that considers both grades and courses taken. To qualify, students must earn a certain number of points from a combination of specific classes and grades. The point system differentiates between "A" and "B" grades, with higher points awarded for honors, Advanced Placement (AP), or International Baccalaureate (IB) courses. Students must also meet minimum course load requirements and have their grades verified by their school.
Membership in CSF is determined at THS on a semester basis. Students who qualify and maintain membership for a specified number of semesters and complete specified amounts of community service hours receive various benefits. These benefits can include recognition on diplomas, eligibility for scholarships, invitation and recognition at Evening for the Stars with a minimum of 5 "Active Membership" semester, and the opportunity to wear CSF regalia that have been earned through 5 or more semesters of "Active Membership" such as honor cords and stoles during graduation.
CSF membership is highly regarded by colleges and universities, as it signifies a commitment to academic excellence and service and demonstrates a student's ability to excel in challenging coursework. Many colleges and universities in California and beyond offer scholarships specifically for CSF members.
Overall, the California Scholarship Federation program provides high-achieving students with a platform to showcase their academic accomplishments, earn recognition, and access various academic opportunities during their high school years and beyond.
CSF Elected Leaders
CSF Leadership Positions
In September CSF students have the opportunity to serve in one of several leadership positions. If more than one person shows an interest in serving an election of current CSF members will take place. See below for a description of the duties of each.
- President - It is the president's job to work with Mrs. Hurley in running our CSF meetings, to attend Student Council Meetings on the first Tuesday of every month and give a report of club progress and community service opportunities. It is also the President's job to ensure that other responsibilities are being completed.
- Secretary - Working with the president and Mrs. Hurley, the Secretary makes sure that all applications are filled in correctly, all dues have been paid to Sheila from CSF members and that we pay our annual dues to the CSF state office.
- Community Service Officer - It is the Community Service Officer's job to work with Mrs. Hurley and make sure that opportunities for community service are regularly sent out to CSF members and to get information about upcoming service opportunities to the president so he/she can announce them at any upcoming meetings.
If you have questions about any of these positions please see Mrs. Hurley.
