The THS engineering program, created and taught by Jason Diodati, is a CTE pathway in Energy and Power Technology, sponsored in part by California CTE grants, PG&E and the Bill and Cheryl Swanson Foundation. In addition to rigorous course curriculum, the students in both courses in this pathway are tasked with selecting a project topic, creating a project proposal with budget analysis, writing a grant letter for materials, and then completing the project.
The projects range from large builds using the metal and wood shop, small electronics, engines, entreprenuership ideas, and much more. The variety seen in type of project selected is a result of each student selecting a topic that meets their personal interests and desired skills. The goal of these projects is to give the students a method to apply their education, manage their time and resources and build on their professional portfolio.
