Each month staff members nominate a student they want to recognize as “Eagle of the Month”. This month teachers nominated a student who shows “PERSEVERANCE”. Of the students nominated, four are drawn at random to receive a lunch out at McPhee’s Grill on Main Street. Below are our winners with a brief explanation as to why they were chosen and below that are the other students nominated this month and the staff member who nominated them. Congratulations to all of our nominees.
ADDY NIXON
“Addy Nixon is a shining example of unwavering perseverance and unconditional kindness. Despite facing numerous obstacles and setbacks in her life, she has always demonstrated an incredible determination to overcome them. Addy's resilience has been a driving force behind her success. She embodies the spirit of never giving up, constantly pushing forward with a positive attitude and will to achieve her goals. Addy's story serves as an inspiration to all, reminding us that with perseverance and a kind heart, anything is possible.” -- Mrs. Craton, THS Counselor
“Addy is a blessing and an encouragement to so many on campus and in the community. She reminds us through her effort, determination and attitude that we can overcome the challenges that face us. What impresses me the most about Addy is the grace and humility that she shows every day. She is a blessing to all of us.” -- Mr. Mac, ASB/Leadership
“Addy has shown a tremendous amount of perseverance as she has returned to school this year following her accident last spring. Despite the hardships she has faced, and continues to face throughout her recovery, she comes to school each day with a positive attitude and a strong desire to learn. Addy's tenacity is truly inspiring!” - Ms. Evanko, THS Science Department
LAUREN LANCASTER
“Lauren is a true ray of sunshine in my class. She brings joy and happiness to my students. Lauren genuinely enjoys being a peer aide in my class. She has persevered through navigating the many levels of special education. Her endless amounts of patience and acceptance is phenomenal. Lauren is a wonderful role model for my students.” -- Mrs. Nikolaou, THS Special Education Department
HAVEN SIMS (Not pictured)
“I have so much respect for Haven. She brightens my day as she wants to learn and grow as a person. She has had many challenges to overcome but she never lets it take her down. She figures out what she has to do to work through it and is always willing to do the work. Along with her strong work ethic to overcome she has a sense of joy and happiness that she is still able to approach her day with. It is a pleasure to have Haven in class and she has been an inspiration to me to continue to preserve through things that are tough.” -- Suzanne Forzetting, THS Physical Education Department
ROXANNE BEAL
“Roxanne is in her second year as the Baritone section leader of the THS Marching Band. Section leader positions are generally reserved for seniors, but circumstances last year required that she step into the role earlier than usual. The baritone sections that she was dealt each of those years started out as one of, if not the weakest section in the band. But under Roxanne's leadership and good nature, they each beat the odds and made remarkable transformations to become strong, ensemble-defining sections. Throughout all of the ups and downs, Roxanne's spirit, attitude, adaptability and perseverance have been amazing. She is a good role model to the younger members of the band, always acting with the best interests of her section and the ensemble as a whole.” -- David Landers, THS Music Department
