Mason Mudgett Recognized for Kindness

Mason Mudgett Recognized for Kindness

At THS we are blessed with great, caring and kind students and this year we are partnering with The Human Bean to recognize a student each month that exemplifies what it means to be a kind human being, or in this case “Kind Human Bean”.  The purpose of this program is to remind us all of the importance of kindness and goodness and to encourage others as we introduce you to some amazing young people.

The first student we chose to recognize was junior Mason Mudgett.  Mason is a multi sport athlete and multi year Link Crew leader who truly cares about others.  In big ways and small, in word and deed he truly is a “Kind Human Bean”.  Read what others have to say about Mason.

“I have had the pleasure of getting to know Mason over the past two years. He is a peer aide in my Special Education class at THS. I have witnessed his extraordinary amount of patience and acceptance of my students with special needs. His calm and caring demeanor is very impressive. Mason is eager to assist in implementing strategies for students with special needs and is extremely compassionate. He displays a true love of being a Peer Aide in my classroom. My students gravitate toward Mason and absolutely love being around him.  He connects with all students on campus and can easily spark up a conversation. Mason makes you feel accepted and liked no matter who you are or what your background is. I am truly blessed to know Mason.” - Michelle Nikalaou, Special Education Teacher

“Mason is the cross country team's biggest fan.  He works hard as hard cheering on his teammates as he does working out on the track.”  - Rosalie Smith, THS Track and Cross Country Coach

“Mason is one of those young men who just makes you keep believing in the goodness of people.  On the first day of school I watched as he saw a freshmen sitting by himself at lunch.  Mason stopped what he was doing and went over and sat down and ate lunch with him.  A perfect example of the kind of young man Mason is.  A great example to all of us.” -- Matt Macfarlane, THS Activities Director.

"Mason is the perfect blend of kindness and confidence.  When you are with him, you feel like you're the most important person to him at that moment.  Mason is unapologetically himself and is one of the most genuine examples of what it means to be accepting of others and accepting of yourself.  We are so incredibly fortunate to have him roaming the halls, events, teams, and service clubs at THS. Thank you Mason!" - Bre Goetz, THS Counselor

“Mason is a hard worker with a positive attitude, exceptional character, integrity and a moral compass to do the right thing at all times. Whether leading students on campus or involving himself in as many school activities as possible, Mason has routinely exhibited kindness and compassion towards anybody who is fortunate enough to engage with him. I am proud of Mason, and it is a true honor to recognize him as the very first THS "Kind Human Bean"! - Jessica Lloyd, THS Principal

A group of staff members surprised Mason during one of his classes and shared with him words of encouragement and affirmation and presented him with a “Kind Human Bean” shirt and a gift card from The Human Bean in Templeton.  Thank you Mason and thank you Human Bean for helping us recognize some of the kind human beings on our campus.
