Templeton High School invites all members of the community to join us as we continue to celebrate Homecoming Week with this year's Homecoming Parade on Friday, September 15th featuring floats, the THS Football team, Cheer Team, the THS Marching Band, and THS alumni from the Class of 1973 all being led by an engine from Templeton Fire Department and our Grand Marshals, Ian and Max McPhee.
The parade is scheduled to leave Templeton High School at 2:00 pm and will travel its traditional route through town turning on to Main Street at First Street and then traveling back to THS after passing the judging area in front of Templeton Market and Deli. Most parade watchers say the best viewing is in front of the Market because that is where our judges will be and where float participants will perform. In year's past our football team will run a play under Coach Crow's guidance, float performers will dance and sing and any number of surprises will happen. A big thank you to this year's judges, Melissa Johnson from Templeton Recreation, Melinda Reed from the Templeton Library and KSBY anchor Neil Hebert. These judges alone will have the task of naming this year's best float. For newbies to the float competition, the judges have JUDGING GUIDELINES to follow which have them looking for a variety of elements that go beyond just the float itself. If you want to win the float competition you must create the best experience including iconic music, identifiable characters, display energy and excitement and show an understanding of the details of the story you are trying to portray. The top three winners will be announced at halftime of Friday's football game.
Beyond the parade, watchers will get to celebrate community heroes and THS supporters Ian and Max McPhee from McPhee's Grill. The McPhee family, this year's Grand Marshals have been long time supporters of Templeton High and the community. From team meals for our varsity football team, luncheons for the entire THS Staff during Staff Appreciation Week, monthly dinners for our Staff Member of the Month, monthly luncheons for our student Eagles of the Month and a host of other events the McPhee family is a blessing to our school district and community.
The community will also see our royal court on display throughout the parade featuring our freshman, sophomore, junior and senior prince and princesses as well as this year's football sweetheart and escort all being chauffeured by members of the THS staff in trucks provided by Mullahey Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM dealership.
Please join us anywhere along the PARADE ROUTE and celebrate with us, our students, marching band, cheer team and football team as we enjoy our annual parade experience.
