Last week over 150 freshmen entered the THS gym to music and an energetic welcome by Mr. Mac and Link Crew Leaders who hosted this year’s Freshman Orientation. Throughout the morning students were challenged to step outside their comfort zone and embrace the opportunities that exist at THS.
Freshmen began the morning in the gym meeting key staff members as well as hearing from THS alum and Link Crew leaders who shared their stories with our newest Eagles. Mr. Mac led the freshmen in some big group team building activities and challenged them to invest in themselves and to find their place at THS.
Following the big group session students were divided into their link crew small groups - 2 trained Link Crew leaders and 8-10 freshmen - and spent the rest of the morning in small group breakout sessions which were lead by our Link Crew leaders. This was an opportunity for the students to connect with their leaders as well as the other freshmen in their groups.
Orientation is an important beginning for our freshmen as they meet upperclassmen, staff members, get a tour of the campus and catch the vision for what it means to be a success at THS.
A big thank you to our Link Crew Leaders who gave up some of their summer for training, to our Band Boosters who provided treats for our freshmen and to CI, our parent boosters, who hosted all of our freshmen for a pizza lunch at the end of orientation.
Link Crew leaders will be on hand to help our freshmen find their way around campus on the first day as well as will be staying in contact with their crew, inviting them to events, sharing opportunities to get involved in the life of the school and are available anytime to answer questions or help problem solve any challenges that our freshmen face this year.
Go Eagles !!!
