MORE PERSONAL AND SEASON RECORDS SET AT WALLER GOOSE CHASE

Race Medalists

Race Medalists (l to r) - Maya Leavitt, Taylor Sutton, Carter Harding, Nikita Norton, William Wallace and Beckett Ashton

Another great outing for the THS Cross Country team this weekend at Waller Park as all of our runners set either personal or season records in Saturday’s 5000 meter race.

In the guys race, William Wallace and Nikita Norton led the Eagles coming in 10th and 11th overall in the nearly 80 person race.  William now holds the 8th fastest time in school history for the 5K distance.  Nikita secured the 10th fastest in the THS record book.  The boys varsity to0k 4th as a team out of the 12 teams competing.  Here are the Eagles top 5 varsity runners and their times:

  • 16:53.81 - William Wallace
  • 16:55.84 - Nikita Norton
  • 17:45.85 - Adam McClure
  • 17:52.40 - Cohen Wallace
  • 18:05.85 - Colton Morud

In the girls race junior Taylor Sutton took 8th overall leading the Eagles with her season best time of 19:58.67. The girls varsity also took a team 4th place.  Here are our top 5 varsity girls finishers.

  • 19:58.67 - Taylor Sutton
  • 21:32.88 - Melissa Chavez
  • 22:09.82 - Vanessa Chavez
  • 22:13.87 - Kyla Schwartz
  • 22:35.62 - Maya Gutierrez

In the JV division the boys took 1st as a team with Beckett Aston taking 2nd overall and Carter Harding coming in 6th.  A great day for THS Cross Country.

Next up for the Eagles is the CCAA Mountain/Ocean League Mid Season Meet at the Elks Unocal Events Center in Santa Maria.  Scheduled to appear at Saturday’s meet are AG, Cabrillo, Lompoc, Mission, Morro Bay, Nipomo, Orcutt, Paso, PV, Righetti, SLO, Santa Maria, Santa Ynez and St. Joe’s.

Somethings to think about:

  • Six Eagles medaled at Saturday’s event for coming in the top twenty of their race - Maya Leavitt, Taylor Sutton, Carter Harding, Nikita Norton, William Wallace, and Beckett Aston.
  • The Eagles guys and girls teams took 4th today without Josh Bell and Nick Jansen and the girls took 4th without Keani Neuhs and junior transfer Frannie Perry.  If all of these runners participate next week the results could be really interesting.

Go Eagles !!!
