Each year the CIF Central Section asks the athletic directors of each school to submit the unweighted team GPAs for each of their teams on a set day mid season for each team and then compares them against other teams from the same sport. There are 18 leagues and over 125 schools that represent the CIF Central Section. As always, Templeton High showed why it is known for not only its outstanding athletic program but also its strong focus on academics. This year two THS teams had the highest GPAs in their respective sports.
In the fall, the fall the THS girls cross country team had a combined team unweighted GPA of 3.93 edging out CVC who had a 3.89. And in the spring the THS boys volleyball team had a 3.32 team GPA beating secong place Sanger High who had a 3.26 team GPA
When reflecting on this accomplishment, THS Athletic Director Joe Farley said, "I am proud that our student-athletes are setting the standard on what it means to be a student first and athlete second. After successful seasons in competition, it is an opportunity for the school and community to praise and celebrate these teams for their hard work in the classroom as well. Let me be the first to congratulate and acknowledge the hard work of our student-athletes. Wings Up!"
