GOAL OF SCHOOL NURSING

Children who experience health needs or who have medical diagnoses may have a difficult time engaging in the educational process. School nurses support student success by providing healthcare through assessment, intervention, and follow-up for all children within the school setting. School nurses serve as a critical health hub for students, ensuring that students are ready for learning by managing complex, chronic conditions such as Asthma, Anaphylaxis, Seizures, and Type-1 and Type-2 Diabetes; identifying and addressing mental health issues; leveling the playing field on health disparities; promoting healthy behaviors; and handling medical emergencies (NASN, 2021). In addition, school nurses provide preventative care in the form of vision, hearing, dental, scoliosis, and color screenings each year.ng and isolating, and providing medical follow-up post COVID-19 for students and employees.
