Eagle Athletes Visit TES

Eagle Athletes Visit TES

THS Senior Haylie Wallingford, a standout multisport athlete, was among several varsity athletes who visited TES today.

Members of the THS girls and boys basketball teams and the girls and guys soccer team visited Templeton Elementary school to share with 1st and 2nd graders about some of the character lessons being taught by TES faculty and staff. Skye Davis, a member of the girls basketball team, spoke to the students at the start of recess and shared about the importance of “being safe, being responsible and being respectful”, three phrases elementary students have heard regularly this year. She shared examples of the importance of these concepts in athletics but also in being successful young people. Our high school athletes met with TES students, talked with them during recess and then had the chance to play together.

Several of the THS soccer players played kickball and awed some of our youngest eagles with their athletic ability and kicking distance. A group of four of the soccer players took on all comers in a game of soccer. Though outnumbered 50 - 4 our high school players were able to squeak out a victory, 1-0. Basketball players played some 2 on 2 basketball or worked on ball handling and shooting with 1st and 2nd graders.

A big thank you to TES counselor Shannon Clark and Principal Kibbe Rubin for helping to set this opportunity up. Everyone had a great time together. And also to Melinda Staley and the THS Athletic Templeton High School Athletic Booster Support Club for providing incentives for our athletes who demonstated "being safe, being responsible and being respectful".
